What are some special ideas for parents anniversary party?

We are throwing our parents a suprise party. I want to do something in the way of favors and decorations that would be very special to my parents. What are some special ideas for parents anniversary party?
Print your own invitations using MS Publisher, Print Workshop and others by taking a picture of the honored couple and scan it to put it on the invitation. Don't forget pertinent information such as occasion, when, where, attire, RSVP information, and other special instructions that you may have to pass along to guests (i.e., no presents, no children, etc.). Discount party places usually always have good deals on anniversary party supplies and decorations. Some simple, but elegant ideas might include helium balloons weighted down with candy as table centerpieces, seating cards placed on each table, sign-in book to give to the couple, linen tablecloths, confetti or glitter scattered on tablecloths. Adding a special touch to an anniversary party can make it a long-lasting memory for the honored couple. Consider these ideas: (1) Create a video of their life together. Get siblings to send in several pictures of their families and any old pictures they might have of their parents. If someone in the family can make the video from their home, that would be great. If not, call around and have a videographer do it for you; (2) make posters from old photographs of the honored couple to hang on walls; (3) create a scrapbook of pictures and momentums for the honored couple to keep. Include pictures of them from as far back as possible and go all the way through grandchildren. Family members can donate pictures for the scrapbook. You can make copies of the scrapbook, if you want each sibling to have a copy.

If you can find any of the old at you did as kids, use that as a beginning for decorations. Perhaps a few other things that you might find your mom as kept (trust me, there is something) Keep it simple, make the star of the show the parents and what will make them feel the most special. Maybe have the grabdkids if there are any make some things also, hand prints, perhaps even decorate a memory tree for them (another use for the artificial christmas tree)
I loved everyone's ideas. For my parents, I did the photo montage. My parents loved it, and the guests couldn't stop looking at it. The guests like to see themselves in it, too.

One other thing to celebrate is your parents' many friendships. That was the biggest thing to my parents - the opportunity to see many people they hadn't seen in years. One thing you could do is ask everyone to stand, then have them sit down if they've been friends less than 10 years, 20, 30... You could also do a little something to honor the best man and maid of honor if they attend, like give the man a boutonniere and the woman a corsage.

You can also highlight things you parents did together before they were married. My parents liked to roller skate and also sang in a choir together.
definitely make some type of photo board or slide show of their pics together throughout the years. I had one at my moms birthday party and her most favorite thing was showing off her pics to everyone.

you can use one of their wedding photos as your main ';theme'; of the night. use it on the invites, print out dinner menus with the picture as the heading, get a poster made from it to hang on the door to the party..maybe some wallet sized ones in little frames form the dollar store for all the tables as party favors. you can also make black and white or color copies of your photos and decoupage them into glass candle holders for centerpieces....scatter fake rose petals around them along with the mini photo frames and some smaller tea light candles around them..would be very pretty..maybe rent some round mirrors to put them on. here are instructions on decoupaging pictures http://www.allfreecrafts.com/decorations鈥?/a> I have made phot boxes for family members with copies of our pictures and everyone loved them- they turned out really great! you could even make smaller candle holders with the pictures on them for party favors too.
How many years? Have a look at this site - it will tell you the theme for each anniversary...

Try and do something based around whatever theme theirs is - that would be nice. (Ie, if it was a 20 yr anniversary you could do a 'china' party - be inventive... you could do a formal dinner with the best china, or you could think outside the box and do an asian themed party!)
You create a cd slide show with music in the background...show their life together in phases from beginning to now, including their children. I'ts a beautiful gift for them.

I saw this at my Aunts funeral and my first thought was that she should have been able to view it. It was beautiful...showed her grad pic, their wedding and life events, family, friends, children, etc... and it just stuck with me...

Congrats to them!!!

Make a scrap book with old photos and little memorabilia in it. That would be very personal and special. Especially if you made it personally.
