See we are renting a house and they say its not allowed in the the contract. Is there any way? Couldn't we talk to them or the city or something???!! We have enough space and I have enough money! How can I convince my parents to get me a chicken?
House chickens are getting popular. There is even a chicken rescue in Minneapolis. Chickens do have personality and can make good pets but many other birds make much better pets and are easier to take care of.
If you are renting you have to stick with the contract. There's nothing you can do about it.
If you really like chickens try to see if there are any poultry shows in your area. A search for ';poultry'; ';show'; and your state might find some. Learn about chickens from books and magazines. Perhaps you could join 4-H and learn about chickens there. Many states have a project called Adventures with Animals or something simular that will connect you with other 4-Hers who have a poultry project. But I'm afraid you're going to have to wait until you move somewhere that's more suitable for keeping a chicken before you'll be able to own one.How can I convince my parents to get me a chicken?
Unlike what other have said, chickens can make excellent pets. However, many cities outlaw them. Especially roosters as they are noisy and can disrupt your neighbors. Noise laws, etc.
Ofcourse you have the money for a chicken you can buy a chick for 1.75 US. However why would you want a chicken? They poop everywhere each time you'd step out your back door you'd more then likely step into poop. If its not in the contract then you cant have one nothing you say even if you go to the city will you be able to have one. Also MANY cities have a ';no farm animal'; law on the books. Meaning any animal that is normally found on a farm can not be housed in city limits this includes but is often not limited to horses, cows, pigs, ducks, chickens, rooster
Why a chicken? People who have farms have chickens as they are messy and need to live in a coop. If you want a bird why not a parakeet? If you like farm animals a pot belly pig is a good pet.
If its in the contract its probly not a good idea!! they could kick you out for breach of contract! chickens are messy, arent very noisy and make wonderful pets! so long as its not a rooster, and the eggs are delicious too!
A Chicken ? O.K if it's not a rooster . But are you aware that any kind of bird ';Chicken '; carry allot of nasty bugs , germs that can make you %26amp; , or your loved ones sick . Good luck
Got bird flu? No? Wanna get it? Buy a chicken!
People are getting chickens as pets now? What the heck?
Anyway, respect their feelings on this. A contract is from the owner of the house, not the city. I doubt the owner of the house wants to hear that you want a chicken in there.
