What do you do when your parents get old and start losing their grip?

My dad is a very intelligent man and has always been on the ball. He is now 74 and starting to lose his grip - he's making bad decisions with one asset in particular. For the most part he is rational and in possession of his faculities, but it's obvious he is slowly sliding into old age. Unfortunately my mum is very subserviant, and she can't really do anything, he's in another country, and I dont know what to do. Where do you draw the line when this starts to happen to yoru parents? What do you do when your parents get old and start losing their grip?
Talk to their close friends, talk to a priest, talk to someone who can help get him in for a mental evaluation, before he loses everything he has worked for.Alzheimer's can start very slowly, but have bad repercussions if family lets it go on too long without diagnosis. Please see that he gets in for a check-up soon.
