How can I convince my parents to let me get a pet?

I only want a hamster!

I would pay for it and clean everything.

My parents are really against it!

How can I convince them? How can I convince my parents to let me get a pet?
Ok here what you do, Instead of trying to convince them that your responsible (im not saying that you do) but show them responsibility show them that you can take care of a pet, step up in the house, get more active in your house.....How can I convince my parents to let me get a pet?
First, try pet-sitting for neighbors to show them how responsible you are.Tell your parents if that you are mistreating it,they can take it back(take good care of it so it doesn't happen!)And say what extra chores you will do for it and how you will clean up after.Make sure no one in your family is allergic or afraid of rodents first.Good luck!
say that they will never know how responsible you are unless they give you a chance. and say you want to be a vet, seriously, it could work!

1- look up all the prices and where your gonna get one. and look up everything it needs to survive so your aware of the costs.

2- look up interesting facts on it. interesting and convincing.

3-do extra chores around the house.

4-look up very cute pictures of them.

5-be mature about this situation. parents dont like.....';plz plz plz plz plz plz plz!!!!!!waaaahhh!!!!!! PLZ PLZ PLZ'; all the time.

6- tell them that you would do everything! and after you have all the research, gather them all around and give a presentation on all the research.

Good Luck! i hope you get one!!!!!!
Prove you are responsible by doing useful chores and getting fantastic grades. I guarantee it will work.
get yourself a plant .....if its still loking healthy in a month ...point it out and try to upgrade to a hamster....i should point out that dead hamsters are harder to get rid of than a dead plant!!!
what you do is you wait till mothers day and give your mum breakfast in bed and buy her something really nice then you ask her if you can get a hamster and she will feel to quilty to say no because of all the stuff you have brought her. Trust me it works iv tried it myself.
Prove that you can be responsible for a hamster maybe by pet sitting or walking dogs for neighbors. Also, don't beg for a pet just wait and maybe your parents will see that you deserve a pet. Hopefully you'll get your hamster!
Make sure you do all of your chores around the house for one. Then get a plant (spider plants are easy to grow and easy to come by) so that your parents can see that you pay attention to it. Finally, ask yourself if you really truly want to change the shavings when they have poop and pee all in them, and if you will actually pay attention to the hamster or leave it lonely in a wheel forever.
Crawl and Grovel it usually works';
if they are stamping their feet down theres not much you can do.

you can try by helping round the house more etc..but you may end up disapointed if they still say no

hamsters are probably the easiest pet to get (although noisy at night) but they do need daily attention maybe theyre worried youll get bored with it after a while and theyll end up having to clean it out etc...
I never had any pets as a kid and that's coz my dad said he didnt want to end up looking after them.

I now have 4 children and 12 rabbits, 10 chickens, 2 cats, 1 dog and 3 toads!!! and I can understand sometimes where he was coming from. Some of them pets are my childrens.

Feeding them they do no problem its the cleaning out they not keen on.

A hamster is a good starting pet, its what I started with. They dont cost that much to feed etc.

You dont say how old you are?? maybe your parents dont want to be left with a hamster to look after when you busy with college or something.

If yo are school age then I see no reason why you shouldnt have a pet.

You learn lot from having a pet. You are sole career of that animal and you learn to care for someone other than yourself, so you become a less selfish person. And you learn responsibility too.

I would never so no to my children if they wanted a pet (thats if we didnt have any!)
Pets are a long term commitment, and they can be extremely tying. What do you intend to do when you go on holiday for instance? It still has to be fed and cleaned. What happens if you have a lot of homework or want to go out with your friends?

Another problem arises if it escapes. My son had one when he was in his early teens and it kept getting out and eating the carpets.

Think of all the things that can go wrong and work out what you will do if they do. That way you just might get your parents to relent but remember that if you do tire of it, they will either have to look after it or get rid of it and neither alternative is likely to please them.
prove to them you can be responsible
First, try pet-sitting for neighbors to show them how responsible you are.Tell your parents if that you are mistreating it,they can take it back(take good care of it so it doesn't happen!)And say what extra chores you will do for it and how you will clean up after.Make sure no one in your family is allergic or afraid of rodents first.Good luck!
