How do I convince my parents to get a dog?

I have a two year old mutt and I want another. I've done everyting, cook, clean, strait A's, and I am really responsible. I have had many pets in the past and have taken really good care of them. We also have a big yard and house. I also have many siblings who can also help take care of the dogs. The problem is that my parents keep saying ';NO';! How do I get them to change their mind? How do I convince my parents to get a dog?
LOL, i had the same problem a little while ago. try asking if you can go to the shelter just to look at some, if you get attached to a dog within the first few times, just let it go, trust me, thats wat i had to do, then after about 3 times or so, start showing that your intersted, showing a little more attachment each time, then start asking if you can take one into a visiting room, if they have one like the humane society i got my dog from does, if they dont, ask if you can get into the cage with them if they are not aggressive, if they are, just move on, even if you like them, after a few times of getting into the cage urself, have ur parents get in too. in the case that they have a visiting room, make sure your parents are in there too, that might get them attached to the dog too! after about 3 or 4 times getting dogs in the visiting room(or your parents into the cage), your parents should be getting into it to, and fall in love with a dog themselves, and then theyll get a dog, without even thinking about the fact that you ever even asked! How do I convince my parents to get a dog?
Well first of all think about your dog. Does he get along well with other dogs normally? Is he currently enjoying being the center of attention and would be easily jealous of another dog? If yes, then don't get one.

If he likes other dogs and is home alone most of the day (6 hours or more) then you SHOULD have another dog so he isn't lonely. Use that argument for them if that's the case. But also consider the monetary aspects of getting another dog, they are expensive. Talk to your parents about that, and try to find out where you could go to get a dog (my recommendation is either a shelter or a rescue such as the ones based out of Petco or Petsmart that bring dogs on weekends). Try to find out what a dog costs at each of these places, what medical treatments it comes with, and what dogs they have and their ages, sizes, any special needs and temperments (ie - your parents might not want the work of training a puppy but will be happy to get another 1 - 2 year old dog).
the thought of having a pet is always a warm cosy feeling but, they are hard work and demand a lot of time and there is also the cost involved, your parent are probably not saying no to be horrid, its a big commintment not just the walking and cleaning poo up but the cost involvements. So my advice would be to be patient unless your working and can be financially responsible for a pet yourself, there is obviously a good reason.
Well its their choice. No means no. So dont pout or anything. But if you stop begging and become more responsible then maybe a opprutunity will come up if you see a dog sign and ask your parents to stop and look or maybe you can look online for shelters where you can save a mutt. Shoe your parents your findings online and tell them all the good things you've done. if they say no again and again and again and again ask for one for your brithday or christmas.
well first i think you should no tht i use to ask these questions and everytime some1 answered with like ur parents house theyre rules i ignored it, but plz dont ignore this

look i no how you feel i wanted a dog my entire life! im 16 and im just getting my first dog now but it took alot of work to get one and as much as im looking forward to having my new puppy its not just gonna be work on me! my parents are gonna have to drive to the vet take me to puppy care classes etc

hope i helped
I just convinced my mom to get me a dog, I wrote them a ';essay'; on what its benifits are how I would take care of it and how it would make me so happy! try even if they say no at first if you keep bringing it up they will probably cave!!
Guess one of those ';strait A's'; wasn't in spelling. You can't make your parents do anything. Their house, their rules.
get straight a's, help around, and dont bug them be respectfull, and tell them i will take care of him.
You don't. It is their house, and you have a dog already, don't be greedy.
If you are really responsible how do you had many pets in THE PAST?? Where are they now??
beg
Sit down with them and have a serious talk. Tell them how well you have taken care of your dog now, tell them how much it means to you, and how hard you have been trying to prove your responsibility. Mention your grades. Ask them Aren't I responsible enough? See what their answer is, and if they mention some areas that you could improve in, then ask them if you show improvement in those areas, then could you have another dog? If they say ';we'll see, then take the time to show them that you really mean business by improving in those areas too. I agree with the other answer too. Mention how your dog could have a companion, and that your willing to get a 1-2 year old dog so that they don't have to worry about potty training issues. Just sit down and have one talk with them, dont keep bugging them. Tell them you want to sit down and talk. Ask them why they don't want to get another dog if they are still saying no. They may have a very good reason, like your dog may not get along, they may not be able to afford another one, or the landlord may not allow another dog. Plus the more animals you have, the harder it is to move if you need to. There's all the money issues too. Maybe you could get a part time job, working weekends or after school, and tell them your willing to pay any vet bills, food bills, toys, collars, leashes, food dishes, maybe a bed for the dog. There's a lot to consider, but telling your parents that your willing to pay any expenses, and that your willing to show your responsibility might change their minds. Maybe consider getting a small dog, so that the costs of food, and everything else will be smaller too. Like a german shepard would eat ALOT of food, but a chihuahua or a small pomeranian would only eat a tiny bit.
