How important is the role of parents in the education of their children?

Why do we always blame school for the poor education of our children? How are democrats and republicans differ in this aspect? How important is the role of parents in the education of their children?
Absolutely critical. Both Obama and McCain recognize this. Obama's approach is to jawbone parents, African Americans in particular, into emphasizing education more. McCain's is to support school choice, which removes parents from the tyrrany of the public schools. Obama opposes this, of course, because he is in the pocket of the teachers unions. How important is the role of parents in the education of their children?
Parents should play a very major role in the education of their children

The educational system is bad primarily it's government run and the parents of most children don't really care.

They don't care that government run school are failing their children and have done so for years. If they did care they'd sent their children to private or charter schools.

The Republicans want to give parents voucher to be used for either private schools or charter schools.

The Democrats want to keep the school system as is a have the tax payers dump more and more money into a failed system..

Parents should really give consideration to their child's education when they go to the ballot box and stop feeling sorry for teacher who for decades have been demanding more and more money to keep the failed shools goings
Parents are their children's first teachers. And when they go to school, parents must STILL watch and see what their children are learning, help them with the work at home, and make sure that they are getting the extra support they need. We can blame schools, but in the end, parents are as much their children's continuing teachers as the paid educators are. We drop all the responsibility of child-raising and teaching onto the schools when we SHOULD NOT do so, as they clearly cannot get everything they need for life in a classroom.

Democrats and Republicans both think that children's education is important. the difference is in what they expect of children whose parents can't afford private school and extra tutors.
Parents are very important in educating their children.

The Republican war on the middle- and working-class has made it so families require dual-incomes to survive. Sometimes, parents must have multiple jobs to survive. This gives parents less time to spend with their children and monitor their performance in school. It's no wonder that are children are performing poorly when their parents are at work all the time.
I think that the parent's role is crucial in a child's education. I am definitely not a Republican, but at this point I wouldn't call myself a Democrat either, at least not an extreme left Democrat. America is for all of us, not just left or right. Hillary is the most centrist of the three candidates, and the best person for the job. she knows that ';It takes a Village'; not just family, not just the schools, but everyone working together.
It is of vital importance. Children should learn 45-50% of what they know from their parents. Republicans are for leaving the school systems alone, but Democrats realize that poor people living in the inner cities do not have time to work with their children as much and have the worst schools and therefore Democrats work for better Education for all children as it should be. They are our future and so why not give them all a better chance. It can only make society better.
as a young teen in education, i believe that parents play a VERY important role, sometimes more than the teachers.
