I really want to become an actress, but my parents- mainly my mother- think its a silly idea. I want to convince them to let me go to an acting agency and find a good agent- preferably female- to help me get started! But, for one thing, I don't know of any agencies in my area. I'm sure there are some in San Fransico though.... Anyways, anyone with ideas, help me out! By the way, my mother is a great person and I don't think less of her for her doubts on acting. How can I convince my parents to let me find an acting agent?
GO W/ YOUR GUT! =]
GOOD LUCK!How can I convince my parents to let me find an acting agent?
you wont convince them because when you get older, you too will see that show biz is all a scam and a truly awful thing in general
I read your other questions. If you don't have the FULL support of your parents there's absolutely nothing you can do.
Wait until you are older. In fact you should wait until you're old enough to use this forum.
Start by calling the CommunityTheater in your city and ask if they have auditions, or, if you can be a volunteer at the theater.
I am an improv comic in the Second City conservatory. The most important thing when it comes to representation is to get some that works for you. This means they don't get paid unless they find you gigs. Never pay someone up front to get work.
Secondly, if you want to show your parents that you are serious about this stuff, get involved with local productions. They're usually free or low cost. If nothing else, this gives you audition experience. It is so easy to up and jump into something because of shows like American Idol, where people become stars overnight. The people on those shows have been practicing for years. Hone your craft and stick to it. The best way to become a good actress is through experience. Good Luck!
Don't know your age, but at a certain age it is an uphill battle without parental agreement. I would Take Drama in school,
excell at it to the point that it is obvious that it is your calling.
Perhaps that will show them that you are serious and win them over.
