If i declare idependence from my parents and start living on my own; would i qualify for more college grants?

I want to live on my own; don't have enough money myself. And my parents wont give me anything. I was hoping i could get more money if i declared independence. If i declare idependence from my parents and start living on my own; would i qualify for more college grants?
Money (Grants) for college is based on need.

Your parents are probably going to claim you on their tax forms so you won't be able to claim need there; they will claim the benefit. FASFA still has a dependency section for people not living at home who are under 25. They still require you to fill out parental financial accounts.

Next year, when you move out and start out on your own, you'll be able to show your own needs independent of your parents, but even then you'll have to wait until you officially file a tax return. That will be during the first quarter of 2009 (tax year 2008).

You have to be 25 before you can get out of the parental notification clause. I guess that's because everyone would declare Independence from their parents to qualify for grants.

Talk to your parents, see if they would sit and fill out the form from the second link (calculator) to determine eligibility.

Good Luck!

Go ask financial aid at the college........xx
you most likely wouldn't get much more from the college, but your FASFA would go up for a bit...not sure whether it would be worth all the extra work
You will have to put your parents on your fafsa application until you are 24 or married or have kids or become a veteran or an orphan. It doesn't matter if you live with them or if they claim you on their taxes or even if they plan on paying for your schooling or not.

Move out if you can afford it, but it won't get you any more money with fin aid.
it depends if u r over 18 or not
