How do you convince your parents to get a second dog when your mother already hates the first dog?

I love my dog with all my heart. My mom gets really stressed by him though.

My dad would love to get a second dog too, I can read it in his expression, but he won't say anything because he knows how my mom feels about it.

I do admit--my mom does do a lot of the dog work in the household but I would really like a second dog while I'm still alive and living with parents. How do you convince your parents to get a second dog when your mother already hates the first dog?
Come on, don't be selfish here. In this day and age, people are more likely to dump their dogs at shelters, not get new ones, simply due to lack of money. Couple that with the fact your mother does a lot of work around the house and I think you have a lot to be grateful for. You really are not in the position to ask for another dog.

While you're still alive? If you're still with your parents, you're not exactly a geriatric, are you? You'll have plenty of time to get another dog in years to come. If you love your dog with all your heart, please be grateful you still have it!

If have want a chance of getting another dog, the only way you will get around your mother is to stop acting lazy and bone-idle and start doing a bit of work for once. It won't kill you. Maybe then you'll see what hard work goes into it and you will understand that getting another dog is just not a good idea. How do you convince your parents to get a second dog when your mother already hates the first dog?
If your mom hates the first one, it'd be unfair to make her take care of a second one that causes her a lot of stress. If she does a lot for the current dog and doesn't enjoy it, then it's understandable that she doesn't want another. Talk to her about it. If she doesn't want one, then be happy with the one you currently have and wait until you can move out on your own and then get the second dog.
Unless you are going to drop dead soon you will have plenty of time to get a dog once you move out. You REALLY think your mother who is taking majority care of the dog YOU and your father wanted, is going to want a SECOND dog?

Take care of the dog you have now, apologize to your mother for being so lazy about it, thank her for NOT giving the dog away and then when you move out on your own get another dog.
Well, why don't you try to impress your mom by taking over ALL of the dog responsibilities so she feels assured that you can take care of everything? Prove it to her for a few weeks/months and maybe she'll change her mind.
lol i had the same problem with my mom

but just get the dog vaccinated and registered as yours so she cant make you get rid of it, its gonna take her awhile to get used to it but she will, my mom really hates dogs but we have 3 lol
I would try helping out around the house with taking care of the dog, by relieving your moms stress maybe she'll begin to appreciate the dog and want another one.
You should began to take care of your dog for a few months and prove to them you're ready!
Well unless you are doing all the dirty work and paying for your first dog's expenses, I'd say it isn't your choice.
Doesn't sound like a good idea!
