How do you persuade your parents that your serious about acting and you want an agent?

I want to go professional in acting but my parents think its a waste of time and I should just study and get straight A's all the time. My parents can't really afford an agent, but they are only paid when you make money, therefore I could pay for my own agent, and I'd just need a little starter help. How do you persuade your parents that your serious about acting and you want an agent?
first it does not cost to get an agent or to find out where interviews are but there are costs you

will have to start and per sue acting. this is extremely time consuming and will have to come

first for you and one of your parents, who will have to drop what their doing and do this with you.

a parent will have to get an agent for you. agents do not charge any fees, they get paid only when you work, they get 10%. if you want this for a serious career you will need to be located where

the acting opportunities are and have a local agent. it won't do any good to get an agent if your not where things are done. don't know how you can persuade your parents to help you. if one of them isn't on board with this you will have to wait till you can do this on your own.How do you persuade your parents that your serious about acting and you want an agent?
Justin dude, you don't pay agents normally. The agent works for you finding you jobs and you pay him/her 10%-15% of what you make. Keep your day job. If you live in a big city, great. If you live in a small town forget it. If you are in college take acting classes and do plays. Acting is a JOB. Guys and gals that act for a living work hard at it. Forget the Brad Pitts of the world making 30 mil a picture. Don't make a big thing of it with your parents. If they see you study your craft of acting they will go along, if they see you screw around and party, it won't work. If, that's a big IF, you get a paid acting job that will help and your parents will do a 360. Nothing succeeds like success. Understand that 80% of the actors who are paid are paid doing commercial work. Acting in theater, well you have to move to NY. LA for movie and TV.Good luck.
Show them how good you are at acting and research about agents and show them your research, hopefully that will show them how serious you are about it. In the mean time keep up the straight A's and show your parents you can handle acting and keeping up your grades at the same time.
