How do I convince my parents to let me get my tongue pierced?

I'm 13, and I really want to get my tongue pierced. It looks so cool, and not that many people have one, but my mom said it looks trashy and people will look at me differently. How do I convince my parents?How do I convince my parents to let me get my tongue pierced?
Well, I think you should wait until you're a little older. (Think about it, do you really want to someday be 80 years old with a pierced tongue?) When you're older you'll be able to make a wiser choice about it.


I know I sound condescending, but I'm 13 too, and I just don't think it's the right age to decide to get something as permanent as a tongue piercing done.

My mom used to have one, and so did my stepdad, my dad's gf, and a couple of my friends. They ALL took theirs out after a few years because eventually you grow to hate it. It hurts like hell if you accidently bite it, its bad for your teeth, and it just gets in the way. I'm sorry but I don't think you'll be able to convince your parents. I'm in your situation too, my mom promised me she'd take me to get my lip pierced when I turned 13 (I've wanted it since I was 11 lol). Now I'm fourteen and she still won't let me. Your only option is to wait til you're 18.
It does look trashy, and most people only get their tongues pierced to use for sexual reasons, which doesn't make a good impression. My boyfriend used to have one, but decided to take it out because too many people viewed it as trashy even though he didn't think it was.
you're 13. you really think they'll let you do that if you talk to them about it? my parents are really chill about stuff, and i'm almost 17 and i'm not allowed to get a second piercing in my ear. i've just figured to choose my battles wisely. i'd rather get to fight with them about what college i go to than about stupid little piercings. just wait until you're 18, it's five years, it goes by fast, and by then you most likely will have changed your mind.
i dont think u can. they may look cool but they hurt like hell. i'm serious they hurt really bad. my oldest brother's ex girlfriend had one and she said it was so painful and then she couldnt anything spicy. she couldn't drink orange juice a whole year later and it hurt to kiss.
I'd recommend waiting until you're 18, when you can do it without permission. You might not even really want to by then. My friend used to want to get her tongue pierced soo bad, but eventually she grew out of it

Edit:My English teacher wanted her tongue pierced...But her dad knew a girl who got her's pierced..The nerve was damaged and they had to remove her tongue...And now she can't talk.
You're too young at 13. Sorry, but that's my opinion. Wait until you are 18 and see if you still want it pierced. No reasonable parent would let their child get their tongue pierced at 13.
It does look trashy... At least wait until you're older.
